Last year, I took fought with a few different brands of tinted moisturizers and BB cremes. I loved the Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 out of all of them, but this year I wanted something different. And, with our cold one week, warm and humid the next week weather, it really has affected my skin and my foundation choices. (Side note: I change my foundation to a tinted moisturizer in the fall/winter because my skin shows more dryness patches and to fight the wind, sun and other free radicals.) So far, I have tried Laura Mercier, Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer against the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturizer and the Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint. To be fair, I only tried the Hourglass on a client, I don't know that I loved it. I really need to try it on my skin. But now I want to try the Dior Hydra Life BB Creme, (hahaha, whoa.... ) there are too many products to choose from. When I go back to Sephora to return the Laura Mercier, I will purchase the caudalie today. Also asking for couple samples from Hourglass, Dior and any other types my Sephora consultant suggestions. I posted the reasons below for the why and why nots. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them! Let's keep this conversation going! 1. Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm = Best SPF coverage, lightweight, light coverage, but a bit oily faster than I like. 2. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer = SPF smells was very strong, very oily application, then faded into matte. But brought out my lines and got oily pretty quick. 3. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturizer = lightweight, really light coverage. Blurs imperfections better than previous two products. This battle to be continued....

Another amazing product that will have you glowing is Make Up For Ever's; Desire Me Cheek Set, $49. This limited edition set was inspired by the 50 Shades of Gray film. You have 3 gorgeous colors that blush, highlight and glow. You can use them individually or all together to create your very own look. I have even used them as eyeshadows, (as package suggested) and they are really a beautiful addition to any makeup kit. Personal and professional. The kit also includes a MUFE Pro contour brush and a very sexy travel bag. Be sure to get them while they last! Even though I still ADORE the following 2 eyeliners listed below in the previous blog! I stumbled upon the Cover Girl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus, around $5. The colors glide on smoothly without skipping, dragging or pulling. There are bright bold colors, it REALLY lasts all day, it is NOT a liquid liner. And there is minimal smudging. This really is a great stay put product. I even wore the Black Ink & Golden Ink together, with little movement throughout the very humid hot day. I even walked a couple miles to dinner in the heat and high humidity. My entire face was dripping sweat but my makeup stayed put! YAY for great new products! Eyeliner – a cosmetic for the eyelids, usually applied in a thin line close to the lashes to accentuate the eyes. Even though we all know what eyeliner is, there are many ways, and types of liners to purchase. I have had my favorites in the past but now, I have found the holy grail of LIQUID LINERS! That’s right, no smudge, no thick cracks of liner! Smooth, and beautiful for hours! Sephora-Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eyeliner is my absolute favorite liquid liner. And for only $12, it’s a steal! At Sephora you can get this collection of ultra-pigmented eyeliners to create strong, beautiful lines. It’s very pigmented and there are 12 shades to choose from. Amazing! In a very close second favorite is Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner, $18. A liquid liner pen that works on the face and body. It comes in 5 shades. It is not as awesomely pigmented as the Sephora liner, but if you are new at liquid liner application. This is the product for you. It turns your nervous fingers into a pro with a few applications! br /> I love using both for different occasions. And the BEST part is they BOTH last for 12 hours. The Sephora Collection liner wore beautifully with nothing on my eyes EXCEPT the liner. No primer, no shadow! It’s such a MUST HAVE product. New Years is right around the corner everyone! And you know you want that makeup to wear fabulously for your all night adventure!!!!! (Excerpts taken from our facebook conversation) Miss Fabulous LV Question: I was wondering if you could recommend a full coverage foundation for my dark circles and blotchy skin like what you used for the photo shoot. I've never looked better than when you did me girl! Thanks in advance, and remember I live in a DRY climate! I need a good covering foundation, nothing really works for me and I will be 59 in two weeks. I need product HELP! FireMakeup: Happy Early Birthday! I have a few products to recommend to you, some from Sephora, and others from your local drug store or Ulta, everyone has different price points, it's easier not to assume. So I will list
SIDENOTE: I have been getting ALOT of compliments for what foundation I use. Every time I walk into MAC, one of the trainer/managers consistently asks what is on my skin. It's the Smashbox Halo Powder, (from the set in #2 listed above). With #4 foundation. The combination looks great on me, even in this Texas humidity. And if I have to get some extra-dew off my skin, I just blot with the nearest CLEAN tissue and apply MAC Blot Pressed Powder in Medium, $24. FINALLY! An Eye Cream I am in LOVE with! Thanks to the ever-so-fabulous help from Allie Towell, (fellow makeup maven and part of the Artist Staff at Sephora), I have been using First Aid Beauty, Dual Repair Eye Cream, $40. Combats anti-oxidative damage. Minimizes wrinkle formation & strengthens the skin barrier. Brightens the skin. Reduces puffiness and under eye circles. And it is amazing kats & kittens! Be sure to run out and get yours now, if you want your skin to LOVE you!! ~ Until next time, Jessi When shopping by yourself for the perfect shade of red, there are two things to consider: what natural shape your lips are, and what your undertones are in your skin. LIP SHAPES BEWARE: If you have thinner lips you should stay within the lighter shades of red or the pinker-reds so your lips stay full! If you choose to use the deeper dark tones, you are taking the light away from the lips and they will appear smaller, even with lipgloss. If you have medium to fuller lips, be aware that the color you choose can make a huge impact on your overall look. CHOOSING THE RIGHT SHADE There are blue-red, orange-red and deep-red shades of color to choose from, (which means the color undertone the red has). And don’t forget the lipliner – the most important part of the lip process is lining to keep the color from bleeding through, especially reds. Choose a shade comparable to the lipstick, always go a shade deeper if you have to. Fair/Light: You have a pink/fair skintone (you burn easily) – go for the blue-red shades or a cherry red. Light/Medium: If you can tan easily but still burn then you most likely have more beige to yellow undertones, so try the orange or brown red tones. Medium/Dark: Your skin has a natural tan color maybe with golden to honey undertones and you darken easily when exposed to the sun. You can get away with fire engine red and deeper red based tones. Dark: You are deep skin toned, with mocha undertones, and should opt for deep red tones as well. Image courtesy of ellisfaas.com Make sure your lips aren’t chapped or have any dead skin on them. If you need to, use a clean toothbrush to exfoliate the lips gently. Keep the rest of your makeup lighter on your face so your other features will not fight against your lips when wearing your new unstoppable color! With the sharpened lip liner, begin to line the natural line of your lips starting at the cupid’s bow and working your way down to the corners. Then start again at the base of your lip line and work your way up and into your corner of your mouth. With your fingers, blend the lipliner into your lips gently to soften the line. Apply lipstick evenly on the top and bottom lips, either with lipstick or a loaded-up lipbrush. Don’t forget the corners! Take a clean tissue and blot lipstick one time as if to kiss the tissue. Apply a light dusting of translucent loose powder over lips, blotting away excess. Repeat steps 1 and 2, then lightly press lips together to make sure you have even coverage. Step away from the mirror and look at your face overall. If your lips have any unevenness in lines, use the lip liner softly to fix any mistakes. If you need to wipe anything away, a quick blending of concealer and then setting it with powder should fix any mistakes. You now have kissable, traffic-stopping lips! Favorite Red lip colors:
Q: I wear glasses. Is mascara even useful/noticeable when wearing glasses? What can I do to look nice and natural while being a four-eyes? Mascara is the icing on the cake. Without it, your eyes aren’t as well defined as they could be. With mascara, your eyes are more prominent, and they demand attention! Especially with glasses! First, let’s take into consideration what type of vision correction needs you have, because it changes how you apply mascara.
To give you a better idea of how to choose mascara to brighten each eye color, try Cover Girl Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Mascara, for $8.99. It has light-reflecting metallics and a hint of tint to bring out your blues, browns, hazels and greens. You can purchase it online at Ulta, or at your local Cover Girl distributor. When you have found your perfect shade, follow these steps for amazing, intense lashes:
Blue eyes are actually one of favorite eye colors, since I too have blue eyes! To specifically make your eyes traffic-stoppingly bold, I suggest colors such asbrowns, greys, golds, rusty peaches or plums. As we know, metallics are hot right now and they are easy to use alone. Just apply them to the lid and crease. Here are some product suggestions for you blue-eyed girls: For a smokey quad, try Stila Smoky Eye Talking Palette in The Platinums, $40. And yes, it does have a recording in the shadow to talk you personally through your makeup application! Another beautiful quad is, MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Eye Quad in Eccentricity, $19.50. Be sure to check out these duos as well! I love my bargains! MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Eye Duos, $19.50 in: Fresh Green Mix, Play onPlums, Under Your Spell, and Mayhem One quick way of achieving a stunning, and light smoky look: 1. Use one of your deeper tones and apply on the entire eyelid and into your crease but keep a light hand, then you can apply more if need be. 2. Then apply your highlight shadow under your brow and blend the two shades together just in that crease to soften the look. Have fun with your show stopping new looks! Question from Megan: Could you possibly do a tutorial for the different colors of brown eyes? I have very dark brown eyes. Unlike a lot of people with brown eyes my color has no gold in them at all, in fact, they seem to pull a little purple. Every tutorial for brown eyes seems to lean to a warmer brown. Megan, you lucky girl! Your eye color can get away with wearing more shades of eyeshadow than almost all the other eye colors! One rule to remember is any color lighter or darker than your own will attract attention to your brown beauties. My favorites are shades of blue, steel blue/grey, plum, eggplant, tans, golds, such as those that are in MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Eye Quads, $19.50 in Odd Bits or Assemblage: Depending on your skin type, you can also choose from any of the MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Eye Duos, $19.50 in Sea & Sky, Earthly Riches, Family Silver, Fresh Green Mix or Bright Side, Gallery Gal: Oh you have so many to choose from! One quick way of achieving a stunning, and light contour look: 1. Use one of your deeper tones and apply on the outer corner of your eyelid following the outer edge, softly blend toward the center of your eye, but keep a light hand, then you can apply more if need be. 2. Then apply your highlight shadow under your brow and blend into your crease where your lid and crease meet. 3. Apply either the same color as your highlight or a tone deeper than highlight, (2) but lighter than your contour, (1). Enjoy your trip to the makeup store Megan! Green eyes are so diverse in color, there are so many ways to enhance this color of eyes! But you need to have the correct colors. Color Selection: To get off to a good start you need to pick colors that really make your green eyes stand out. Anything with a red or pink base will bring out the yellow gold in your green beauties, such as Dior’s 5 Color Shadow compact in Stylish Move, $56. Or if you want to enhance the green only, choose colors like copper, gold, and chocolate. Such as MAC’s Mineralize Eye Shadow Quad in Natural Flare, $19.50. Remember to be careful while selecting color. If you are feeling brave and want to try a shade of blue, make sure that blue is almost black, such as MAC’s Eye Shadow in Contrast, $14.50. Otherwise, most shades of blue will take away from your Green eyes. One great way to utilize all these colors is to pick a deep color from your quad or 5 shadow, and apply to your eye lid and blend into your crease (sort of asmokey eye wash). Choose the lightest shade possible for your highlight color and apply to your brow bone. (If the color is too deep for a highlight there, blend with another highlight color you love instead.) Then use a black liner pencil and line the INNER rim of your lower eye lid. Apply a thin line of black liner to your eye lid, and smudge into the eyeshadow you have already applied. Then, line the bottom of your lower lash line with the same color as your smokey wash. And now you have not only brought out the pop in your green eyes, but achieved a sassy and sexy look too! Next time you want to dip into your new tones, you can repeat the same steps with the other color you didn’t already choose for another new look! The possibilities are endless!
